The Zebraz story began in 1995 in San Antonio, Texas,
where non-porn gay, lesbian and adult merchandise
were shipped from a 10,000 square foot warehouse,
mostly from catalog sales. That same year, Zebraz
acquired Shocking Gray, the first gay and lesbian mail
order catalog. Glenn Chase, Founder and Principal,
knew that, in order to stay competitive, he must pay
particular attention to the changes beginning to occur
in consumer purchasing behaviors. And by the end of
the 1995, the online store,
Zebraz.com was launched.
A catastrophic flood in 1998 that virtually wiped out a
complete inventory of catalogs and products, and the
continued growth of the internet ultimately shaped the
largest gay and lesbian online department store.
From the beginning, Glenn knew Zebraz.com would
deliver products, service and privacy never before
available to the gay and lesbian community. The pride
result of the superior quality and broad selection, but
also because many of the products are made by gay
and lesbian artisans. From fine art, fashion and books
to playful toys, Glenn envisioned
Zebraz.com would
fulfill a huge void and provide a one-stop, affordably
priced shop to the gay and lesbian communities.
